Yesterday, Friday 8/31/2012, my parents & I took the boys to Monkey Joes. They had a blast UNTIL the very last slide before we were going to leave! Landen came down the slide, stood up to climb out & slipped. He fell out, landing on his hands with his arms locked and flipped over. As soon as he hit the ground, he grabbed his elbow and started screaming & crying crocodile tears. We weren't sure how badly he hurt his arm so we wanted to give him some time to see if the pain went away. We stopped at CVS and got some children's advil, then headed to Firehouse Subs. Landen seemed fine as long as he didn't bend his arm, but if I bent his arm he screamed & cried crocodile tears again. So after we ate we decided to find a pediatric afterhours clinic, but they were closed for Labor Day weekend. So we went to the ER. The doctor thought it was dislocated until she realized he could move it, then she ordered xrays. After what felt like forever, we found out he has a hairline fracture on his right elbow. The ER put a splint & sling on his arm, and told me to call his pediatrician on Tuesday to set up an appointment with an orthopedist. Landen was such a brave little boy the whole time. He was scared and he cried due to pain when they bent his elbow, but he allowed the nurses and doctors to do what they needed to. I'm very proud of him! Here's a few pictures of our fun-filled evening gone wrong. :-)
I am thankful he only had hairline fracture and nothing worse. He will not need surgery, just a splint or cast. Please pray he is patient with this sling, and doesn't get rough and reinjure his elbow. Thanks!
