A couple Fridays ago I took the boys to Fort Maurepas State Park in Ocean Springs, MS. It was a fun filled day once we finally figured out where we were going. The day started off with us going to Ocean Springs and not being able to find any splash pads or nice parks at all. So we came back to Gulfport, and had lunch with Tony at the church (Picture above). After talking with our church secretary (Thank you so much Suzi for the help!), I figured out how to get the state park. So we headed back over. Now that I knew where I was going, it was super easy to get there. :-) The park was really neat. It was located on the beach. There was a small splash pad, large playground, restrooms, picnic tables & portico. Here are a few pictures of the boys on the playground and splash pad.

There were several neat statues. Darren said the above statue was a pirate. Therefore, it was on the list of extremely cool things to him. :-) Below is a giant anchor statue, they enjoyed climbing on it.
After we played at the park, we walked across the street to the beach. We went out on the pier, where we met a really nice couple who were fishing. They were catching small fish, letting them dry out, and using them as bait for bigger fish. They showed the boys two blue crabs they had caught, and a flounder. The boys loved it so much, they didn't want to leave the pier!
On our way back to the van, we picked up seashells as we walked along the sand. We have so many shells in our back yard. Every time we go to the beach, the boys pick up a few more.

After we left the park/beach, we stopped by a local donut shop in downtown Ocean Springs. I had been told by several people that they had the best donuts ever. They are made with potatoes, hence the name "Tato"Nut. They were delicious! We will have to stop by there again!
